Jane Stephenson, President

Jane joined the Board in 2010 and is a member of the Executive, Policy & Procedure, and Personnel committees.

Jane has resided in Brighton for over 30 years with her husband, Randy.  Together they raised his two children along with their daughter who now lives in Colorado (which requires frequent visits!). Jane and her family attend 2/42 Community Church where she is a Women’s Bible study leader, mentor and prayer warrior.

Ms. Stephenson holds a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Psychology from Central Michigan University and a Masters in Human Resources and Organizational Development from Eastern Michigan University.  Jane is President of J.P. Consulting, Inc. and is a part-time Lecturer at Eastern Michigan University. She also develops and facilitates workshops for Pregnancy Help Clinic, her church and other organizations.  Jane enjoys snow and water sports, gardening, Christian concerts, and her cats.

Karen McLaren, Vice President

Karen joined the Board in 2018 and is a member of Executive, Development, and Finance committees.

Karen has lived all over the United States, but now after 18 years considers Michigan to be home.  She has been married to her husband John for 26 years and they have four children and two daughters-in-law.  Karen and her family attend St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Howell where she is a Eucharistic Minister.  

Karen holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology and Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Special Education from the University of Colorado Boulder.  She volunteers as a parent mentor at the Pregnancy Help Clinic.  Karen enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, walking and reading. 

Frank Brandenberg, Secretary

Frank joined the board in 2019.  Member of the Personnel and Development committees.

Frank is married to Alica for over 50 years with 3 grown children and 6 grandchildren and resides in Milford, Michigan.  Retired from Burroughs Corporation (Group Executive), RA Industries (CEO) and Northrop Grumman (Sector President/acting COO).

Frank has a BS Degree in Industrial Engineering, 1968, Wayne State University; MS Degree in Industrial Engineering, 1972, Wayne State University; PMD, 1984, Harvard Business School.  Currently, chairman of the Board, Kemet Corporation (KEM: NYSE); Chairman of the Advisory Board, Livingston County Salvation Army; Owner/Partner, Auto-Lab Franchising, LLC

His pass times include Classic Car renovation, world travel and picture taking.

Matthew Russell, Treasurer

Matt joined the Board in 2021 and is the Leader of the Finance Committee.

Matt has been a Brighton resident since 2014. He has been married to his wife Chrystal for 19 years. They are currently attending Shekinah Church in Ann Arbor. He has volunteered in various roles including outreach, videographer, and prayer warrior.

Matt achieved a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and a Master's of Science in Accounting from Eastern Michigan University. He has 10 years of book-keeping and staff accounting experience. Additionally, Matt and his wife have been the owners of Java House Cafe' in South Lyon since 2011.

Serving the Lord is my Matt's greatest passion. When not working, he loves to travel, camp, eat at new restaurants, and volunteer where the Lord leads him.

Matt says that the Lord laid it on his heart to serve at PHC. He strongly believes in PHC's mission and that every life is important, and each one should have the opportunity to live. He also believes in helping the parents, standing with them to bring the child to birth and care for their needs. Matt is honored to be part of Pregnancy Help clinic and the wonderful work they are doing.

Brian Kaitner, Board Chaplian

Brian joined the Board in 2021 as the Chaplain.   

Brian has been a Livingston County resident since 1989, married to Amber for 26 years. They have two kids who are currently in middle school. Brian has served full-time for 10 years at Marr Community Bible Church as the Director of Outreach & Nextgen Ministries.

Brian studied Writing & Marketing at Lansing Community College and worked 18 years in the auto manufacturing industry. His hobbies include camping, and kayaking, and he has a passion for classic cars.

Pastor Brian believes in the work that is being done at PHC and the impact that it has had and is having on our community. He reminds us that 'we are all created in the image of God and valuable in His sight.'

Paul Taylor, Board Member

Paul was given the opportunity to join the Board in 2020. He is on the Policy and Procedures, and Personnel committees.

Paul has been a resident of Livingston County since 2003, and now lives with his wonderful wife Stephanie south-west of Fenton. He has two sons, a daughter, and two stepsons. His Dad was a decorated WWII Army veteran and a skilled tradesman at Chevrolet. His Mom raised six kids, made their house a home, and worked as an office manager. Paul and Stephanie are members of the St. Augustine Catholic Community in Deerfield Township, and Paul is a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 13450.

Paul is an attorney with his own practice in Fenton, Michigan, and is also a Customer Sales Associate at the Howell Lowes Home Improvement.

Paul graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelor’s cum laude in Criminal Justice, and from Wayne State University Law School with a juris doctor. He is a member in good standing of the State Bar of Michigan.

Dave Duggar, Board Member

Former President of the Pregnancy Help Clinic; awarded Champion for Life recognition in 2019.  Dave joined the board in 2007.  Member of the Executive and Finance committees. 

Dave and his wife Alwilda of 61 years have been Howell residents for over 45 years with four children, 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.  Past Moderator (Board President) and current Treasurer of the Howell First Baptist Church.  Graduate of Leadership Livingston and currently serving on the organizing team.  Local Jaycee president, state officer and national Jaycee officer. Awarded a USJCI Senatorship award.  Past Trustee and Board President at Howell Carnegie District Library.

Moved to Michigan after graduating from Purdue University.  Employed as an Engineer for Detroit Diesel and its successor company, MTU.  Retired after experience in several departments including engineering, sales and service assignments along with extensive world-wide travel for Detroit Diesel.

Lifetime runner, running the Boston Marathon twice and the Detroit Free Press Marathon 10 times. Recently have run 2 or 3 half marathons every year along with several shorter races every year.

Dr. Kelly Arenz, Board Member

Dr. Kelly Arenz has been the medical director of the Pregnancy Help Clinic for over five years.  She is a board-certified family medicine physician and currently works as the osteopathic program director for the St. Joseph Mercy Livingston Family Medicine Residency Program.

Dr. Arenz graduated from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and did her residency at Providence-Park Hospital.  Her clinical interests include natural family planning, addiction medicine and osteopathic manipulation. 

She is board certified by the American Board of Osteopathic Family Practice and the American Board of Addiction Medicine.  Dr. Arenz is a member of the Catholic Medical Association, American and Michigan Osteopathic Associations, American and Michigan Association of Family Practice and a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine.
